La Plata,
Buenos Aires Province,
Argentina
Why I chose this...
I chose to research about La Plata because it my moms hometown in Argentina. When my mom first told me about this place when I was younger I had no idea where and what special things this provenance held. Although I've never been to La Plata personally i've always been interested about my moms upbringing as it was so different to mine. I'm extremely privileged to go to a school with lots of resources and live in one of the biggest city's in the world. However for my mom there wasn't much to do here and she didn't have the ability to do things like I do. So i chose this to explore what the place is like and what the experience might have been like for my mom all that time ago. Once i had decided to pick the university city, La Plata i wanted to do some research into the town to find out more about it. I asked my mom and one of the things she said was how all the streets in the town are labelled as numbers instead of names and is formed in a square grid formation. This is where it go the nickname ' The City of Diagonals Additionally it has the largest church in Argentina and is located directly in the centre of the city. Its the center piece of the whole city and everything revolves around it.
After exploring the city for a bit i was able to gather 16 photos which I thought were either really unique and interesting or something that resembled the city. I had a big focus towards the the church in the centre of the city as i think it's a big landmark and a beautiful construction which gathers the whole city as a whole. One of my favorite street view picks is the 13th photo of the collection. This is one of my favorites because I like how over-exposed the image is and this creates the viewers to instantly pick up on this. Additionally the building are completely different to how we have them in the UK. In the UK we have very bricky and wet buildings whereas in Argentina and South America as a whole they have very white and chalky landscape which is interesting to see that comparison.
